Eligibility is based on information given on:

• School Revenue Opportunity Form (SROF)
• Universal Benefits Application (SUN Bucks form)

or

• child receives CalWORKs, CalFresh, or Medi-Cal benefits (Direct Certified)

If a student is Direct Certified, they will automatically receive a card in the mail from the state.

Estimated Card Delivery for children Automatically Enrolled (Direct Certified):
Students with last name A - C will receive their card early June 2025.
Students with last name D - F will receive their card early mid June 2025.
Students with last name G - L will receive their card early late June 2025.
Students with last name M - P will receive their card early early July 2025.
Students with last name Q - S will receive their card early mid June2025.
Students with last name T - Z will receive their card early late July 2025.

Parents may complete either the SROF Application or the Universal Benefits Application.

Once the application is submitted and the child is determined to be eligible for the SUN Bucks card, the card will be mailed beginning August 1, 2025.

NOTE: Every SUN Bucks card will be loaded with the full $120 per eligible child.

SUN Bucks Card Expungement
SUN Bucks cards MUST be used within 122 days of funds being loaded on the card. It is recommended to use SUN Bucks before CalFresh, if your family receives both benefits. Any unused money on your card after 122 days will expire, or be expunged. Expired benefits cannot be replaced or put back on your card.
